Master Bath Renovation

So proud of my husband and his handyman abilities! We were originally going to replace the vanity so we could have double sinks – the original bath had to be from 1978 when the house was built – scalloped, lime green marbled countertop, mint green toilet, carpet in the vanity area. Definitely needed some updating but weren’t quite ready to tackle all of it until we had a slight glitch- the new vanity cabinet and countertop was 3/4” too wide – they must’ve built the original in to fit b/c standard is 60” which is what we assumed we had until we did a very accurate measurement after we bought the new one. Needless, to say, this became a complete overhaul which was needed but not planned. Took about a month of sharing bathrooms with kids but not ONE professional called in for the job! Unless you consider our friend, Jim, another DIY’er who came to help wire the 2 lights above the mirrors. I did the grout in floor which I learned from watching a 5 minute video on the internet, and the painting of ceiling and walls, and I painted over an icky southwestern print canvas to make my own simple design-although I think Morgan could’ve done just as nice of a job being a 3rd grader but it fills up wall space for sure! It is a HUGE canvas that was going to go to the garbage until I tried to improve it. I also painted the brassy closet doors to brushed silver and used some glass frosting spray to update it a little. Not sure if you can tell from the pics of it b/c it reflects everything in our garage in the mirrors just so you know what you are looking at.

Trick or Treat

Halloween was on Sunday but Trick or Treat was on a Saturday night. It was a busy weekend because Morgan had soccer tournament games both days so Kirk’s dad and his wife came to Dayton for both, along with his step-sister Jenny and her family.  Abram got to trick or treat with us and we went with our neighbors.  So cute that Abram and Ryan coincidentally were monkeys – they all looked so cute and had lots of fun!  I painted Morgan’s face for the fall campout weekend so I let Jenny and Kathy have fun with it this time – she looked great!  Kathy and Sloane

Brownie Hayride –Windmill Farm

This is one of the most fun, non-scary hayrides we have been on.  This was Ryan’s first year and I think he was afraid that if he moved or spoke, he would bounce out of it – never seen him so still and quiet but afterward he kept talking about how fun it was.  The girls always have such a great time and they seem like a great group of girls with 2 great leaders!  (better yet, I am not one of them! but I give them lots of credit in case they ever read this!)

Cowan Lake Fall Campout

Every year the kids go down and trick-or-treat and camp with my dad and his wife.  They have a great time and don’t kids all need tons of candy!  I am ready to start throwing some of it away on the sly!  So here are their costumes, face painting done by yours truly!  The nose only lasted in the camper – definitely not very sticky for faces!

We tried the monkey on Ryan – was Bradley’s costume and he loved it so much, he wore it around for a few hours – so funny!  Especially when daddy came home and he didn’t expect him to already be trying on Halloween costumes.

Bradley’s 1st Season of Soccer

Bradley started his first year of soccer and we weren’t sure how it would go.  He usually doesn’t like being in the spotlight but this year he ran around smiling at his fans more than looking at the ball.  I think he scored 1, maybe 2 goals the entire season.  He typically ran in circles around the group like he was herding them all.  Too funny!  Kirk was assistant coach for the team and it is a fun age to watch!

Labor Day 2010-Dillon State Park

We did the annual Sidwell and family gathering at the state park in our cabins- so much easier than tents/campers!  We again, celebrated Morgan and Bradley’s birthday while we were there.  We always have such a good time and the little ones are taking over!! Not much sitting around by the fire until they are all tucked in!
